Learn More About STHI
Our journey first began in 1984 in the heart of Silicon Valley in Northern California where STHI co-founder Mike Walder was developing ultra high-performance electronic warfare solutions to protect our military from real-world threats. At the same time, co-founder Duane Takamine was driving his EE professors crazy at University of Hawaii. Mike then moved to Honolulu in 1989 and he worked on various consulting projects before forming Martin, Walder & Associates in 1994 and Duane was our primary Systems Engineer. We changed our name to Secure Technology Hawaii in 1997 to better reflect our focus on security and business partner Duane Takamine became VP/CTO.

We formed partnerships with our customers from day 1 by finding out what their real business challenges were and then really solving them. With a focus on security and disaster recovery , STHI quickly became the Island's premier technology solutions firm and we have continued to refine our craft as Hawaii's absolute-best hosting, managed services and solutions engineering firm.
STHI is an engineering-focused company and as such, we have taken the 'CON' out of typical consulting that so many tech firms provide. You wont find a revolving door of inexperienced people at STHI being promoted as experts. We leave that silly approach to our competitors.
|
We also don't force 'disruption' into your business for our IT solutions. Again, another silly tactic our competitors use to sell you things you don't need and deploy them in a way that disrupts your operations and costs you $$. We don't do it that way.
We partner with out customers to develop a solid IT Strategy and Security Program followed by policies, procedures, deployment, testing, deployment, training, and comprehensive support. For many customers, we are their long term continuity of support so we stand behind our solutions for their full lifecycle. |
Photographs by Mike Walder
Many of the photographs on this web site were taken by our company CEO, Mike Walder, either in Hawaii, Oregon or on vacations in Asia & Europe. An avid photographer since jr. high, Mike's first camera was a Russian Kamilar SR200 spot-metered SLR from which learned to be very patient and set up each shot. He shot mostly B&W sports and nature for school newspapers and magazines graduating to an Olympus OM-1 in high school which he used for over 15 years. Mike now shoots with Canon DLSR's & prime lenses today and he always has his iPhone ready for that special shot. Mike has also shot numerous local team sport events for many years giving photos away to teams and families for their enjoyment. A lifetime student of light, he is fortunate to live in Hawaii where the angles of the sun in the early mornings and evenings offer vibrant colors and contrasts.
